Bellringing

A dedicated team of volunteer bellringers ring the bells of St Luke’s.

The bells are rung for 20 minutes on Sundays before our 10.30am service. The bellringers also ring peals and quarter-peals for special events. For a fee, it is possible to arrange to have the bells rung before and after your wedding.

The bells of St Luke’s consist of a ring of 10 bells. These are of historical interest in that they were, unusually, all cast by the same founder and, being made in 1824, are contemporaneous with the church.

There is a single bell at Christ Church, which is run before the service by one of the sidespeople.

The website of the St Mary Abbots Guild contains more information about the bells of St Luke’s, and how to join the ringers (including as a beginner).
